Website Audits & Improvements

Find what is getting in the way of a useful website—and decide what to fix first. I help Reno, Sparks, and Northern Nevada businesses improve existing websites through focused investigation and practical implementation.

Work directly with Chris Hill to connect technical findings with your content, customer experience, and business priorities. Remote projects are welcome nationwide.

A quick check, a deeper review, or help fixing it?

Choose the starting point that fits your question. You can commission a paid audit without running the free check first, and decide on implementation after reviewing the findings.

Free automated SEO check

A starting point for a quick look at technical basics.

What you receive: An automated snapshot of selected technical SEO findings and a homepage mobile performance test, when available.

It does not include my personal review, a full-site audit, or fixes. A good score does not establish whether your content explains your services well or whether inquiries reach your business.

Run the Free SEO Check

Paid website audit

My investigation of a specific problem or a broader set of questions.

What you receive: Documented findings with affected pages, supporting evidence, priorities, and recommended changes. I interpret the findings against your services, customers, and business goals.

The proposal defines the pages and questions covered, access needed, deliverables, and fee. The audit can stand on its own; implementation is included only when the proposal explicitly names that work.

Implementing the improvements

Turn the recommendations into checked website changes.

What you receive: The fixes in your implementation scope, checks of affected pages and functionality, and a record of completed work. This might mean correcting broken destinations, clarifying a service page, improving a form, or addressing a loading problem.

I can handle the changes or provide findings for your existing developer. The work, responsibilities, fee, and follow-up checks are defined before implementation begins. You can start with the highest-priority fixes rather than commit to a rebuild.

See What the Audit Delivers

Start with the problem.
Look beyond the score.

A site can load quickly and still leave customers confused. I examine the areas that matter to your question, whether that is poor visibility, an awkward inquiry process, or uncertainty about a redesign.

Content and customer experience

Can visitors understand your services, find relevant information, and take the next step? I review messaging, navigation, mobile layouts, and key journeys for gaps or unnecessary friction.

For a local service business, that includes clear service-area information and the questions customers need answered before calling.

Technical SEO and discovery

I investigate relevant indexing settings, canonical URLs, redirects, broken destinations, metadata, and internal links. Available Search Console evidence helps distinguish a technical obstacle from a content or visibility problem.

Performance and mobile usability

I review loading behavior and the mobile experience, using performance tests alongside the actual pages. Findings are prioritized by their likely effect on visitors and the work needed to address them.

The goal is a responsive, usable website—not changes made solely to chase a test score.

Forms and inquiry measurement

I review the route from interest to inquiry, including form usability and available tracking. Where delivery testing is part of the scope, I coordinate it with you so test messages are clearly identified.

A button click and a received inquiry are different signals. The review identifies what you can currently measure and what needs verification.

A useful plan, not a pile of warnings.

Your paid audit gives you a documented basis for deciding what to fix, what to keep, and where to invest next.

Findings with evidenceThe affected pages or customer paths, what I observed, and why it matters to the business.
Clear prioritiesWhat needs attention first, what can wait, and which questions need more evidence.
Recommended changesWhat to change, relevant dependencies, and the work needed to address the findings. These recommendations inform a separate implementation scope.
A way to verify the fixesWhich pages, functionality, or measurement need checking after implementation. The implementation proposal includes the follow-up checks for the changes you choose.

The audit fee depends on the number of pages, depth of investigation, and access required. Bring your website address, the problem you want to solve, and any relevant examples or reports; I define the scope and price before starting.

I can implement the agreed improvements or work alongside your existing developer. If the findings point to a larger change, compare website design and redesign. For continued improvements after the initial work, explore website care and ongoing support.

Sometimes the right answer is to improve what you have.

For a Northern Nevada healthcare practice, my audit brought together search discovery, patient navigation, and inquiry measurement. The priorities included valuable existing URLs, new-patient pathways, and establishing reliable measurement.

The resulting plan focused on improving the existing website. Replacing its design alone would not have addressed those needs.

Follow the inquiry beyond the screen

On the Sierra Pallet redesign, the work included checking the quote-request delivery path as well as the public website. That is the same practical attention I bring to investigating a site that looks fine but may have problems behind the inquiry process.
